Question and Answer

We have purchased a number of pieces of art work over the years which need to be tied together somehow.  How could we do this?
Designs in metal can be either the focal point for the space or accessorize other pieces.  It is a challenge but a true designer can come up with many ideas to bridge gaps between existing art works such as representational oil paintings and single pieces of sculpture, for example.  Curves in the shape of waves or rivers can be used to tie together a group of work.  Strong linear or geometric shapes can create a visual distance between pieces whose styles are competing with one another.
Picking up a nature theme such as trees or vines will provide a soothing transition between works of very different colors or compositions.  The addition of a series of decorative metal plates would provide a repeating theme while preparing the viewer for a transition to the next art work in the building.  Paul can come up with the ideas especially if you can be specific about your goals for the room or area!

We wish to memorialize an important member of our business team.   What could we do?
Memorials can take many many forms.  Depending upon the interests of the individual to be memorialized or the position they played within the business or group, there are so many opportunities.  Active designs can bring a sense of life and energy to the memory of a member now missing from the group.  Birds in flight, sea mammals swimming, or water scenes will all contribute to a feeling of movement.  A hobby or interest can be acknowledged such as an interest in boating, gardening, machinery or tools of a specific trade can be created in iron.
Combining glass, wood or pottery can make strong statement about a person's life.  A bouquet of sculpted flowers or a large candle sconce for table top or wall are just a few ideas to assist others in remembering a life well lived.  A weather vane is another way to make a strong statement to the community at large.

We would like to give reasonably priced handmade gifts to key clients, employees or suppliers.  Ideas?
Many corporate themes are easily translated into small desk top pieces of art.  Small metal plates or bowls could be given for desk top or to hold business cards.  Affordable wall or table candle sconces could be designed around personal or company themes.  Metal tiles, each  reflecting a different yearly theme could be designed as a collectible series.  An animal symbol representing a corporate concept would be handsome either on the wall or as a paperweight.  There are many ideas!!  With the emphasis Thorne Metals Studio places on finishing and details, whoever received a gift like this would be very pleased.
